A Perfect Soldier
Producer: 3World Media

Run time: 53 minutes
Production year: 2011
Despite years of peace, the Cambodian killing fields are strewn with “Perfect Soldiers” - landmines waiting to explode.
Meet Aki Ra, one of thousands of children stolen from their families and trained to kill by the ruthlessly oppressive Khmer Rouge. After Cambodia’s civil war, Aki Ra vowed to do all he could to end the cycle of violence continuing to affect his people by defusing the landmines he and others once laid.
Living with the horrors of his past and armed only with a stick and a kitchen knife, Aki has since cleared over 50,000 landmines. But the task is far from over. Fighting back tremendous adversity and political pressure, Aki Ra finds hope and support in the most unexpected people and places.
In recognition of his humanitarian feat, Aki Ra was named one of CNN’s Heroes of 2010.
