What kind of documentaries will you be looking to acquire in 2009?

Director-led films with strong points of view. You might have seen them on Storyville or the True Stories strand, or they might have only played in festivals or in cinemas.

What’s your most successful documentary?

Probably Waco: The Rules of Engagement, an Academy Award-nominated documentary about the Waco siege in America. It’s a well-told story, and one that people will always come back to.

What are the most recent programmes you’ve picked up?

How Ohio Pulled It Off is a film about election fraud in the US. It’s got political and investigative elements, which work well in an online environment.

Is there one documentary you wish you’d picked up?

I’d have to say Wall to Wall’s Man on Wire. But we haven’t given up on it yet.

What will be your focus in 2009?

To build joiningthedocs.tv into the number one online destination for creative documentaries.

What are your plans for MipDoc?

We’re going to be watching a lot of films and talking to as many distributors as we can to try to expand our catalogue. We want to premiere more films on the site and hope this will be happening regularly by the end of the year.
