Following the recent passing of Dominick Dunne, MercuryMedia today announces the sale of the film of his life ‘Dominick Dunne: After The Party’ to UK Digital Network More 4.
The film, which was made in 2008, had its UK debut at Sheffield International Documentary Festival last year and was also an audience favourite at the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Hamptons International Film Festival. It is currently in competition for the 2009 Grierson awards. The film has also been licensed to ABC Television in Australia, Viasat Sweden, TBS Latin America, Planete France, Planete Cyfra in Poland, Noga Israel and Indiepix in North America.
Directed by Kirsty De Garis and Timothy Jolley of Road Trip Film, ‘After The Party’ chronicles Dominick’s story from reluctant war hero, Hollywood outcast, to celebrated crime writer, most recently for Vanity Fair magazine.
Kirsty, who spent two years making the film with Dominick, commented that Road Trip was delighted the film will be shown on More 4. She said that Dominick himself and his family, who have unreservedly endorsed ‘After the Party’ as the definitive portrayal of Dominick’s life, would be thrilled that Dominick’s legion of fans in the UK will now be able to see the film on television.
Tim Sparke Chief Executive of MercuryMedia commented: ‘We are very pleased that More 4 want to show this film whilst Dominick’s memory is still fresh. It is a fitting tribute to one of America’s foremost commentators that British fans should be given the opportunity to share this wonderful work of power and poignancy’.
